Budshead Woods – walk 1 (route)

This ancient woodland is to the south of Tamerton Creek. Go along Riverside Walk, follow the footpath beside the creek and into a field beyond the houses then follow the footpath round to your left.

Warleigh Woods – walk 2 (route)

A nature reserve owned and managed by Devon Wildlife Trust. This is reached by a beautiful walk of about 1.5 miles along Station Road beside Tamerton Lake, locally known as The Creek. Once in Warleigh Woods you can enjoy lovely views of the Tamar and Tavy rivers. In Springtime see the swathes of bluebells or throughout the year enjoy the changing seasons with a circular stroll beside the river and through the trees back to the start. You will also see expanses of wild garlic. The leaves can be used for culinary purposes. Take your binoculars and enjoy the wildlife in close-up.

Whitleigh and Cann Woods – walks 3 & 4 (route)

The former is owned and managed by The Woodlands Trust whilst Cann Woods belongs to Plymouth City Council. Both can be accessed at the bottom of Milford Lane where there is a footpath across to Tamerton Foliot Road exiting halfway up the hill to Christian Mill. On your walk you may be lucky enough to see some deer.You can return through the woods taking a variety of paths. The round trip is about 2 – 3 miles.

Discovery Trail – walk 7 (route)

A 30 mile (56 kilometre) walk up the Tamar Valley from Tamerton Foliot to Launceston.
