The village of Tamerton Foliot is situated on the north-west fringe of the City of Plymouth and a little under two miles from the A386 trunk road from the city through to Tavistock and on to Bideford on the north Devon coast.

Within the conservation area there are still a number of buildings and houses dating back many decades and centuries that give the place character and visual appeal. There are eighteen listed buildings in the conservation area. On the fringe of Tamerton Foliot there are some more recent developments. The History page gives you a brief time line

The village borders the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty encompassing the AONB* Discovery Trail long distance footpath starting at the village green by the Kings Arms. You can also enjoy several glorious walks from the top of Whitsoncross Lane out into the country north of Plymouth and also up onto Dartmoor.

* AONB = Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
